Job Description

As a Sales & Estimating Engineer, you will support business growth by combining technical engineering expertise with commercial sales capabilities. In this role, you will develop accurate cost estimates, prepare technical and commercial proposals, support customer engagement activities, and collaborate with engineering, sales, and operations teams to deliver technically sound and commercially competitive solutions.What’s in it For YouOpportunity to work across engineering, sales, and operations functionsExposure to customer-facing technical sales and business development activitiesAbility to influence project success through accurate estimating and proposal developmentOpportunity to support business growth and customer satisfaction through technical expertiseWhat You Will DoSupport business development and customer acquisition activities as a technical sales representativeEngage with customers to understand technical requirements, specifications, and project scopeDeliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution recommendationsSupport pricing, terms, and commercial negotiations in coordination with managementBuild and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, and key stakeholdersPrepare detailed cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and customer requirementsAnalyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costsDevelop technical and commercial proposals, quotations, and bid documentationReview RFQs, tenders, and bid packages to ensure compliance and accuracyReview engineering drawings, specifications, and standards to assess technical feasibilityCoordinate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to obtain technical inputsSupport value engineering and cost optimization initiativesAssist with post-award handoff from sales to project execution teamsMonitor market trends, competitor pricing, and customer requirementsSupport development of sales tools, costing templates, and standardized estimating processesMaintain costing databases, pricing models, and historical estimate recordsAssist management with sales forecasting and opportunity trackingPosition DetailsReports to: Global Director, Business DevelopmentOccasional travel to customer sites, meetings, or project locations as requiredOnsite at Vancouver, WA office (hybrid on site)Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field)Experience in project-based environments such as construction, industrial manufacturing, or engineering servicesExperience with ERP and CRM systemsMinimum 5 years of experience in sales engineering, application engineering, estimating, technical sales, or related rolesStrong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentationExperience with cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and pricing analysisPreferred QualificationsProficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating toolsAbility to interpret customer RFQs and tender documentsStrong communication and presentation skillsCommercial awareness and negotiation skillsAnalytical mindset with strong attention to detailAbility to work effectively across cross-functional teamsCustomer-focused, results-driven, and proactive approachAbility to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneouslyCareers Advancing Ovivo by Ecolab’s Water Technology SolutionsHelp shape the future of water and technology by joining a team that drives innovation in ultrapure water solutions —critical to industries powering global progress.
